Lady of the Southern Cross Parish
When hail hit Springfield Lakes in 2019, Our Lady of Southern Cross Parish did not escape the destruction . The upper roof being insulated panel construction was near impossible to replace with the intricacies of existing services running throughout, and the impact and cost a full replacement would have been a logistical nightmare with extremely limited access for cranage and working on an operational building.
An engineered solution to roof over using top hat battens installed down the length of the building fixed into insulated panel then battening perpendicular to accommodate new Kliplok roof sheeting was adopted. The hail damage sheeting to the lower level was able to be replaced by a traditional safe work method in 0.42bmt Colorbond Trimdek. The total building area was over 1000m2, and included the replacement of several skylights, the installation of dry pan flashings behind all large penetrations including 7mm Ply to support against future foot traffic.
